The event was borne out of the Firm’s desire to give the students of Oxbridge Academy a robust career talk on how to become a successful Lawyer in Nigeria.
The event was anchored by one of our founding partners, Mr Olatunde Busari, SAN who gave a brief description of the firm’s core values and vision and areas of expertise. The event which was predominantly interactive witnessed discussions on the steps to becoming a legal practitioner in Nigeria, career progression within the legal profession, specialization in law practice, basic ethical standards in the legal profession, challenges and prospects in the legal profession. The students were given brief lectures on relevant modules such as: Public Law, Law of Contract, Law of Torts, Criminal law and the English Legal System etc.
We also had in attendance another founding partner of the Firm, Mr Seyi Akinwunmi FBR who gave an account of his personal experience as a legal practitioner and encouraged the students to stay hardworking in order to attain their desired goal.
The students were also mentored by an intellectual property specialist, an associate in the firm who gave them a brief discourse on selecting their area of specialization based on their passion.
The event ended with a tour of the A & B office complex followed by presentation of gifts. It is our expectation that the event will prepare the students for future career pursuit and A & B will continue to partner with the Academy and other tertiary institutions in future mentorship programmes of their students.
